We Moved! Check out our new home!

For those of you who haven’t heard the news yet, Brickworks Communications Inc.
has a shiny new office! Our previous space in Village Square was great and contains
a lot of happy memories, but with an increase in staff, lots of great new projects, and
lots of great new memories in the making, we’re very happy to announce we now
have moved to our fabulous new spot at 3380 South Service Road in Burlington,
Ontario.

Welcome to Brickworks! Let us take you on a tour of our new digs.

With the bigger, newly renovated spot comes a bigger and even better meeting
room; perfect for client meetings, company events, and karaoke parties.

Next is our design studio. It’s where the magic happens. We do our best to remain
as quiet and focused in this room as possible, saving our loud conversations and
impromptu singing for one room over…

Which takes us to our Project Management area. A bright, open space that keeps
the Project Managers managing, the Account Directors directing, and is the hub of
exciting things to come.

Drop in and say hello.

Make sure you update your address book with our new location:

Just a reminder that we have a new URL and email addresses too. Find out more.

Brickworks is moving to a new location!

On April 30th, 2012, Brickworks Communications will be moving to our newly renovated office and design studio at 3380 South Service Road, Upper Level in Burlington, Ontario, L7N 3J5.

Brickworks will now be located in the heart of Burlington’s business district. As a company founded on innovation and new ideas, we’re excited about not only the ease of accessibility to the new office, but also about our beautifully redesigned space.

Although the majority of our move will occur over the weekend to minimize disruption of service to our clients, please forgive us if we are a little less responsive in our communications for a few days as we set up our telephone systems and servers. Telephone service will be down from late Thursday afternoon until approximately early afternoon on Friday. It’s worth knowing that we’re taking our existing telephone numbers with us to our new location.

We are looking forward to welcoming you in our new home!

Brickworks Online – The Migration to the .co domain extension

brickworks.co. It’s shorter, it’s easy to remember, and it’s all ours! .co, the fresh, new domain extensions for websites, has been adopted by Brickworks for our website, and we’re thrilled.

.com, the legacy domain extension, has over 100 MILLION registrations. To get a TLD (Top Level Domain) with a .com this day in age in near impossible. .co, however, is shorter, more social, and… available!

In addition, with an increasing number of people browsing on mobile devices, it’s important to have short and easy-to-remember web addresses. There are many .co premium names that have already turned into successful websites. For example, Overstock’s re-branded online retailing marketplace has taken on O.co; T.co, Twitter’s URL shortener, is showing millions of links per day and is in the top 100 of ranked sites from Alexa.com; and X.co is Go Daddy’s publicly available vanity URL shortening service. Even King Google has further linked together its URL shortcut to a short and simple G.co.

Associated globally with the words “COmpany”, “COrporation” and “Commerce”, the .co domain is easy to recognize, simple to remember and flexible to use. That makes it the perfect solution for today’s socially networked individuals and companies.

A top question on many people’s minds: How does .co rank on Google?
A .co web address operates similar to legacy Top Level Domains, such as your standard .com and .org. A .co website has the same possibility to rank well on search engines AS LONG as it provides valuable content to the internet community. Here is what Matt Cutts of Google has to say:

Multimatic Motorsports Online re-launches with a new look!

Multimatic Motorsports kicks off its 20th anniversary with the launch of a new website!

While an important objective was to update the look and feel of the site, equally important was Multimatic’s need to be able to manage the content easily, accurately and from remote locations. Furthermore, Brickworks helped to more easily maintain Multimatic’s ever-growing photo library and news archive.

By using an industry standard content management (CMS), Multimatic employees are now able to easily edit and maintain the site with minimum delay. Brickworks redesigned the Multimatic website with convenience in mind, as advanced CMS updates and applications can now be easily installed as they become available.

The site has two main classes of users: in-house users, who are benefitting significantly from the more straight forward CMS environment, as well as Multimatic’s sponsors, who have benefitted dramatically from content being updated in a more timely fashion. In addition, graphical content is more easily integrated into the themes of the site; this is an important feature for any company that needs to get products into market quickly and effectively.

Multimatic is continually evolving its race program with different cars, classes and most importantly sponsorships. Having a theme-based, open-source website was critical as updates to the site had to be done with minimal disruption and re-entry of content.

“Jon, Nick and the team at Brickworks have done a tremendous job designing and programming the site, and I think that the end users of the site will appreciate the rich graphics and well organized site structure. As content editors, it has been great using the new online tools to upload images and update a lot of the content ported from the old site.” - Jonathan Vinden, Director of Communications – Multimatic
